Barons snap Aviators’s streak with 6-3 win

BINGHAMTON, NY The New York Aviators had their five game winning streak snapped on Saturday night after they club dropped a 6-3 decision on the road against the Broome County Barons in Federal Hockey League action. Barons’ forward Anthony Cosmano led the way with a pair of goals, and Skylar Chrsitoffersen chipped in with two assists to help lead Broome past a red hot New York Team. Broome County opened the scoring with two goals in the first period.  Cosmano got his first of two 12:48 in, while Aaron Boyer added to the lead with under two minutes left in the opening frame. New York could not solve, or slow down the Barons, as Greg McCauley’s club added a tally at the start of the second period.  David Lawrence penciled in at the 13:03 mark.  The A’s cut into the lead, as Angelo Serse got on the board 10 seconds later.  However, Broome County tacked on three straight goals, which was capped of by Coosmano’s second of the night. The Aviators netted two goals late in the third to cut the lead in half, however it was a little too late as the Batons held on for the 6-3 win. Pete Dundovich, who came on in relief last night to get the win, picked up his third loss while putting aside 27 shots.  Kevin Druce came on to relieve Dundovich and surrendered one goal on 12 shots.  Broome County net minder Petr Skoggard picked up the win for the Barons stopping 28. The loss drops the A’s to 10-8-1, as Broome jumps to 9-6-3. Comment@prohockeynews.com
