Baie-Comeau still alive with OT win Zykov keeps his team alive with OT game winning goal

QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. — Losing game five at home, Baie-Comeau came to Blainville-Boisbrand confident of being capable of coming back home and play another game. With the score tied 2-2 after regulation Valentin Zykov gave a 3-2 win to Baie-Comeau in overtime at 8:16. Drakkar

Trailing 2-0 after forty minutes of play, Baie-Comeau came back in the third period scoring twice inside 7:03 to push both teams in overtime.

Maxime St.Cyr, with Drakkar’s two goals, helped his team stay alive and force both teams to play an extra period to finally see Baie-Comeau winning game six forcing the ultimate game seven on Tuesday night.

After scoreless first period, Blainville-Boisbriand broke the ice with the first goal of the game 2:51 into the middle frame. Ryan Tesink scored his seventh of the playoff beating Philippe Cadorette.

The second period was surely the best period offered by both teams.

Trailing by one in the game six and 3-2 in their semi-final Baie-Comeau put lots of pressure on the Armada trying to get a puck pass veteran netminder Etienne Marcoux but the Blainville-Boisbriand goaltender closed the door. Valentin Zykov twice, Gabriel Verpaelst, Gabriel Paquin-Boudreau and Maxime St. Cyr got all great scoring opportunities but Marcoux said no frustrating the visitor to keep them at bay in first forty minutes.

Blainville-Boisbriand added a second goal to their lead as Samuel Hodhod wrist shot beat Baie-Comeau goaltender top corner at 5:39.

Trailing by two Baie-Comeau never gave up putting pressure on Blainville-Boisbriand team the combination of Micholas Meloche and Maxime St. Cyr hit inside 7:03 scoring two goals tying the game 2-2 forcing the overtime for second times in that series.

Baie-Comeau center St. Cyr redirected a shot from defenseman Meloche cutting Blainville-Boisbrand lead to only one goal 2-1 at 10:13.

The combination of St. Cyr and Meloche hit again 7:03 later as St. Cyr hit the inside post behind Marcoux taking a rebound from Baie-Comeau Meloche.

The next game will be this Tuesday in Baie-Comeau.
