READING, Pa. – The American Conference All-Stars defeated the National Conference All-Stars 11-5 in the ECHL All-Star game in Reading, Pa.
Matthew Ford of the Charlotte Checkers and Kevin Baker of the Florida Everblades had 3 goals apiece, but Ford walked away with Player-of-the-Game honors. The 11 goal outburst by the Americans tied an ECHL All-Star mark for most goals in an All-Star game. The six goal margin of victory was also tied an ECHL All-Star record. The Nationals lead the game 3-1 heading into the second period, but the Americans scored the next three goals to take a 4-3 lead. The IdahoSteelheads Mark Bomersback tied the game at four at 16:37 of the second period, but the Americans scored the games next six goals to take a commanding 10-4 lead. Both teams traded goals in the middle of the third period to finish off a wild night at the Sovereign Center in downtown Reading. The Nationals put up 44 shots on goal while the Americans peppered the net with 54 shots on goal, 26 of them in the second period alone. Both teams combined for 38 shots on goal in the third period.
