HARBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ – Chris Riley sits downs with Kenny Albert, the voice of the New Rangers broadcasts. This first segment goes way back to Albert’s early years as he took the world he grew up in and created his own “radio station”, WKGA.
His father, Marv Albert, was a huge influence on this writer in the early years of learning hockey. It is obvious that there is a strong genetic influence in the Albert family as you hear the passion in Kenny Albert’s voice and his love of the work and the process.
The real gem in this segment is Albert’s discussion of the work ethic in preparing for a broadcast. As he says, “You don’t come in at 6:59 for a seven o’clock game.”
He learned the profession as a tag-along as he talks about he picked up his profession through watching and doing.
