ALLEN, Texas – The Allen Americans shut out the Wichita Thunder 4-0 on Friday night at the Allen Event Center. With the victory, Allen remains five points up on second place Fort Worth and is now eight points up on the third place Wichita.
The Americans took a 1-0 lead 11:46 into the first. With the puck bouncing off the wall and in front of the net, Jarret Lukin poked it into the Wichita goal scoring his 15th of the season with Jason Deitsch and Trevor Hendrikx credited with the assists.
The Americans ended the period with a 2-0 lead after Brian McMillin hammered one home from Jarret Lukin and Jason Deitsch, who earned his 500th career point on that goal.
In the second frame, Anthony Maiani extended the Americans’ lead to 3-0 with an unassisted goal at the 10:32 mark. It was Maiani’s team leading 52nd point.
Wichita held a 21-18 shot advantage after two periods of play.
Maiani finished out the scoring at the 17:08 mark of the third period, assisted by Trevor Ludwig and Aaron Dell. It was Dell’s first career point and his third career shut out, moving him into first place all-time on the Americans shut out list.
