CHICAGO, Ill. – The Manitoba Moose have come back to win three games in a row against the Lake Erie Monsters in Game 7 by the score of 4-1. The Moose held the Monsters to one goal in each of the last two games in Cleveland. The North Division Finals will feature two Canadian teams, Manitoba and the Hamilton Bulldogs.
There will be one game Wednesday night that will kick off the second round Division Finals, as the Binghamton Senators will travel to Portland to face the Pirates.
North Division Semifinals LAKE ERIE vs. MANITOBA Manitoba wins series 4 – 3
Hockey was shaking in the home of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as 10,227 fans showed up on a Tuesday evening to watch their Lake Erie Monsters in a Game 7 match up against the Manitoba Moose.
But the fans left the Quicken Loans Arena for the final time this season as Lake Erie was eliminated from the playoffs by the score of 4-1. The Monsters got their only goal late in the first with about a minute left as Mike Carmen and Steve Oleksy set up defenseman Jonas Holos for the score to the back of the net.
Right wing Sergei Shirokov tied up the score at the 16:21 mark in the second with a helper from Marco Rosa for his fifth goal of the playoffs.
Ten minutes into the third, center Alexandre Bolduc scored the eventual game-winner with his first of the series. Fifty-five second later on the power play, Keith Seabrook scored his second goal in as many games. Rosa closed out the scoring in the First Round on the empty netter at 18:09.
Goaltender Eddie Lack was tremendous in net as he stopped all but one of the 33 shots he faced for the win. Manitoba only fired 18 shots in the game, it wasn’t about quantity but it was quality as they scored four goals. John Grahame suffered the loss.
Manitoba will now travel to Hamilton for the North Division Finals. Bulldogs netminder Drew MacIntyre who started the season with the Chicago Wolves returns to face the team that he once play on for two seasons. Since the trade deadline this season, MacIntyre has played 27 straight games for Hamilton including the playoffs and winning 16 of those games.
